About Jim Brown

Jim Brown founded North Star Investigations. Jim is from Idaho and has a background in military special operations as well as more than ten years full time law enforcement right here in Idaho.

Through two decades of military, local law enforcement, and Idaho community involvement Jim developed associates and relationships with professionals all over the northwest in many fields. These relationships enable us at North Star Investigations to conduct efficient investigations using unique, local resources and out-of-the box solutions.

Jim is an active member of the United States Association of Professional Investigators, National Association of Investigative Specialists, National League of Licensed Investigators and Investigative & Security Professiojnals for Legislative Action. These groups include military, federal, police, and civilian investigators and are the premier national associations for investigators.

Some things to consider when choosing an investigator

All North Star agents in the Treasure Valley have Idaho law enforcement backgrounds. This means we are well versed in Idaho laws, both criminal and civil, which restrict and permit private investigators.

The laws affecting private investigations vary greatly from state to state. Because of this investigations activities which are legal in one state may not be legal in others.

This is one important reason to choose an investigative firm with professionals experienced in your state as their agents.

We urge you to check the directory of investigators at USAPI and select one of their members in your state for your case needs. They have a strict code of conduct and professional standards. If an agency isn't listed please be cautious. Membership in a national trade organization can be a sign the company is more than just a hobby.

It's always a good idea to check the Better Business Bureau prior to doing business with any company. Accreditation with BBB is a sign of a company's committment to integrity.

Any legitimate business entity should be listed with the Better Business Bureau in their area. We are proudly accredited and it's our way of saying that we stand behind our services.

The ISPLA is a national organization dedicated to furthering the education, legislative goals, and professionalism of investigators.

The NLLI is a gathering place for certified legal investigators. Members are dedicated to ethical, responsible, and effective investigations for legal proceedings.

Through this organization North Star Investigations can coordinate with agencies across the U.S.
